In April 2012 Prevezanos was named as House Beautiful’s “Next Wave designer”. More recently, he has been featured in InStyle and Lonny, and has curated sales for both One King’s Lane and 1stdibs. For his contribution to this year’s Legends of LaCienaga event, which takes place May 7-9, Prevezanos takes over the window of Stark Home. With the theme “Novel Interiors” as this year’s driving force, Prevezanos chose the classic Aesop’s fable, The Crow & The Pitcher, as the jumping off point for his design.
What inspired you to choose the novel/book you have selected for this year’s LCDQ Legends of La Cienega event?Growing up Greek, Aesop’s fables were my bedtime stories. I loved how these simple little stories were deceptively clever. In The Crow & The Pitcher, a thirsty crow uses stones to raise the level of water in a pitcher to quench its thirst. Teaching us that “necessity is the mother of invention,” this moral is particularly relevant to interior design, where often our most challenging projects result in our most creative work.
What novel to movie adaptation got the production design/set design right? Please give an example of one that got it wrong, too!Orlando, starring Tilda Swinton, beautifully recreated the various time periods while also capturing the mood of Virgina Woolf’s novel.
I’ve never actually seen any of those live-action Dr. Seuss movies, but they all look like visual terrorism!
Designers love to feature fashion, art and design books in their finished rooms. What are some of the best hardcover novels to display?Any book covers designed by Alvin Lustig. My favorite is the cover he designed for the 1954 edition of One Arm by Tennessee Williams.

Excluding fresh flowers in abundance, what is your favorite styling trick?Canvas drop cloths from the hardware store make beautiful and inexpensive tablecloths.
Sometimes even the clients with the biggest budgets fall in love with an affordable item from a popular catalog or online store – what is one of your best affordable finds?I once completely transformed an extremely hot pink perforated coffee table from CB2 by plating it in brass.
